Hello Rocio

Bonfire would like to introduce the newest addition to our team, Rocio Baker, seen in the photo above being formally welcomed by Bonfire’s Director of Human Resources, Lucky. Read on to find out a bit more about her life, work, dreams and pet preferences:

What is your position at Bonfire?

Designer / Keeper of Lise’s marbles.

What made you choose this particular field?

I have a Fine Arts Degree with a Minor in Marketing, so I love jobs that allow me to blend both fields of study. There is so much amazing crossover potential between marketing and design, and I’ve been lucky to benefit from that in my career. Strategy, ideation and good design really get me going…

Tell us a bit about your relationship with New Brunswick.

I have lived in New Brunswick for the majority of my life. I moved away for school, living first in Toronto and then Halifax, but I always knew in the back of my mind that someday I would make a triumphant return. I’ve now been back in Saint John for three years, and I have to say— I love it!

What’s your favourite place in uptown Saint John?

Probably the City Market, followed closely by Tuck Studio.

In your career, what project(s) are you most proud to have worked on?

Well, I hope I have yet to complete my piéce de rèsistance! However, I have worked on a few campaigns that still bring a smile to my face. My most recent major project was a mental health-related TV and social media campaign for GNB entitled “Small Talk.” I was also fortunate enough to work on a Nova Scotia tourism campaign, which ended up being a hugely impactful project that was successful in increasing summer traffic to the province.

Where is your dream vacation spot, and what does the trip involve?

New Orleans! It’s on my bucket list to eat blackened crawfish and jambalaya while being serenaded by Creole musicians. Actually, come to think of it, I could probably just drive up the Acadian coast. They have jambalaya there, right? Right? Anyone?

Quick hitters:
Herbivore or Carnivore?

Carnivorous (thanks, South America.)

Cats or Dogs?

Terribly fond of a certain black cockapoo named Gracie.

Beer, Wine, or Spirits?

I was born in Chile so 50% of my DNA is wine.

Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat?

Instagram. I have several accounts. I can only remember the password to one.

Rockwood or Irving Nature Park?

Irving Nature Park. My love, my heart and my lady are the sea…

Coffee or Tea?

Tea.

Kim’s, Sagrati’s, or Sister’s?

Don’t make me choose! Seriously— as excited as I am to work at Bonfire, I might be even more excited to be able to buy lunch from the Market without having to step outside. Perks of the job.
